  • Register New Students

    New students to the Hyde Park School District should be registered at the office of the school the student will attend between the hours of 8 am and 3 pm, Monday through Friday, before school begins on Sept. 6. At the time of registration, you must bring the birth certificate, physician's certificate of immunization, proof of residence within the district (deed, lease, landlord's affidavit, tax bill), and proof of custody (if parents are legally separated).

    All children entering kindergarten, first, second, third and fourth grades must provide proof of receiving a single dose of live measles virus vaccine after the age of 12 months and a second dose of live measles virus vaccine administered more than 30 days from the first dose, but after 15 months of age. The recommended vaccine is MMR (measles, mumps and rubella).

    Contact the guidance office at the senior high at 229-4025. For students at the middle school, contact the guidance office at 229-4032. For elementary students, contact the main office of their school.

    Obtain Information Concerning High School Equivalency

    Contact Dutchess County BOCES at 486-4800.

    Have Medication Administered during School Hours

    Submit a written permission form from the child's doctor. Medication must be delivered by the parent to the school nurseteacher. The medication must contain the doctor's or pharmacist's label. The Pupil Personnel Services page has more information about medication on field trips.

    Qualify for Free or Reduced Price Lunches

    Contact Food Service Director Carole Belardo at 229-4006 or the main office of your child's school. More information can be found on the Food Service page.

    Obtain Permission for use of School Buildings and Facilities

    Contact the main office of the school involved to request the necessary form. Submit form well in advance of event for approval.

    Resolve Bus Questions

    Contact Supervisor of Transportation, George Treadwell, 229-4070. More information can be found on the Transportation page.

    Obtain Information on School Taxes

    Contact the Business Office at 229-4000.

    Obtain Classroom Assignments for Students Absent Due to Illness

    In the elementary schools, contact the child's teacher. In Haviland and Roosevelt, contact the guidance department.

    Communicate with the Board of Education

    Attend the regular business meetings usually on the second and fourth Thursday of each month at 7:30 pm. Consult the monthly calendar for the location or call . See the Board of Education page for more information.

    Resolve a School Related Problem

    Try to obtain satisfactory resolution at the most immediate level. If you are unable to resolve the concern or answer the question at that level, use the following procedure, contacting district personnel in this order:

    1. Teacher
    2. Building Principal
    3. Related Supervisor
    4. Assistant Superintendent for Business for business-related matters such as transportation, cafeteria, building and grounds
    5. Assistant Superintendent for Instruction for student, teacher, curriculum or health-related matters
    6. Superintendent

    If, after talking with the Superintendent, you still have not obtained a satisfactory resolution, you may contact the Board of Education either in writing or orally during Public Participation, a time set aside for this purpose at each Board of Education meeting.
