    PTA

The Parent Teacher Associations (PTA) in Hyde Park schools aim to establish a good home-school relationship so teachers can work together effectively for the complete development of the child. PTA affords you the opportunity to become familiar with the educational philosophy of the district, as well as its curriculum, personnel and problems.

Every school in the district has an active PTA/PTSA with which you are cordially invited to affiliate. The organizations hold meetings regularly (as detailed in the accompanying calendar) and cooperate with the school staff in many ways to enrich the school program and to keep parents informed on the schools.

Officers and council representatives from each unit meet once a month at a PTA Council Meeting on the first Wednesday of the month at 7:00 in in the Haviland Middle School Library. This serves as a common meeting ground where parents become acquainted with the school administrators and policies and act as liaisons with the individual units to interpret the school and community to one another. The meetings are open to any PTA member who wants to attend.

The Hyde Park PTA Council strives to promote the "PTA Objectives" as stated by the National PTA:

    To promote the welfare of children and youth in home, school, community, and place of worship;

    • To raise the standards of home life
    • To secure adequate laws for the care and protection of children and youth
    • To bring into closer relation the home and the school so that parents and teachers may cooperate intelligently in the education of children and youth
    • To develop between educators and the general public such united efforts as will secure for all children and youth the highest advantages in physical, mental, social, and spiritual education

With this in mind, the Hyde Park PTA Council recognizes that by the joint efforts of the Board of Education, the school administration, the community and the PTA, these objectives will continue to be accomplished in Hyde Park.

How Parents Can Assist the Schools

You and the school share the responsibility for establishing an educational climate which will encourage your child's maximum growth.

Just as you look to the school to provide the facilities and the trained personnel which are essential to your child's proper development, the school looks to you to provide him/her with the basic principles of honesty, respect for authority, consideration for the rights and property of others, and adequate standards of personal morality and integrity.

If you show your children by your words and actions that you respect the sincerity and integrity of their teachers and administrators, this attitude will likely be reflected in wholesome attitudes on the part of your child.

You can assist the school and your child:

    • By taking an interest in your child's work and by encouraging maximum effort toward goals which are within the child's ability to attain.
    • By becoming acquainted with the school, its programs, and its staff by attending "open houses," conferences with your child's teacher(s), and participation in PTA and other school-sponsored activities.
    • By providing adequate supervision over study habits, the meeting of school obligations, health habits, and recreational activities.
    • By making your child understand that regular and punctual attendance is expected.
    • By timing vacation, where possible, to coincide with periods when the schools are closed.

    Hyde Park Music Parents

The Hyde Park Music Parents have joined together to support and promote the district's music program. Hyde Park Football Boosters

What is the FDR Football Booster Club?

The Booster Club is a group of parents, friends and community members who support the FDR Football program. We are a non-profit organization who rely on volunteers to reach our goals.

Who can be a Booster Member?

Anyone can be a booster. The cheerleaders and football players go into the community to find our boosters. This means parents, teachers, friends, students, and family can all join. The cost of a membership is $10. 00.

    Where does this money go?

The booster club uses this money and other fundraisers for many different needs. We supply the little extras for the teams. That covers everything from socks, food after away games, decorating for Homecoming and the Rose Ceremony for the seniors. The money also covers feeding the teams after Homecoming which all cheerleaders and players are invited to. This includes Modified, JV Football/Cheer and Varsity Football/Cheer.

We also sponsor an end of the year Football Awards Banquet where mementos of the season are given to each of the players/cheerleaders. At the awards banquet the meal for the players/cheerleaders is picked up by the boosters. We also give each senior cheerleader a gift and the senior players receive their jerseys.

Each year the boosters give a special award to a deserving senior player and cheerleader. This award is called the "Spirit Award" and has become a tradition at Roosevelt. The senior girl and boy are chosen from each team by a committee who looks for a player/cheerleader who exhibits good sportsmanship on and off the field. A cheerleader/player who shows respect for their school, coaches and teammates throughout the season and school year.

We cover a lot of ground in a short season. We are here to help make the football experience at Roosevelt a memorable one for the players and cheerleaders. There is a lot of work to be done and volunteers are sorely needed.

We have meetings once a month from March through July. During the season we meet more often for there is much to do. If you are interested in becoming apart of our organization, feel free to come to our meetings. If you would like any additional information feel free to contact Peter Torres at 229-8765 or 845-222-0749.

We are hoping to get a web site up and running before next season. We will get that information out when it is ready.

    Hyde Park Theatre Parents Association

    Our Vision

The newly formed Hyde Park Theatre Parents Association is a self-sustaining organization dedicated to supporting and subsidizing our theatre students' endeavors.

We are fortunate to have a talented group of students interested in theatre arts. We feel they will benefit from the support of an advocacy group that will give them a stronger voice and a greater presence in the both the school district and the greater Hyde Park community.

Our association will provide a readily available bank of parents and interested supporters to assist with theatrical productions and other projects in which our theatre students may be involved. In addition to hands-on activities, future plans include fundraising and the creation of a scholarship fund.

The excitement has just begun. We invite you to follow our progress and encourage you to attend future performances as our students' talents shine. Witness for yourself the incredible talent in the Hyde Park School District. Who knows, you might be watching a future star!

Why not join us today and be a part of the fun. Annual dues are only $5.00. Help us shape the future of the Hyde Park Theatre Parents Association.

    Use Of Facilities

The school district encourages use of school facilities, including gyms and ball fields, by citizens, civic groups, and other nonprofit community organizations, providing that such use does not interfere with the regular school program. School functions, have precedence over those of other agencies.

Applications for use of the facilities (available at all school and administration offices) should be made at least two weeks in advance. For gyms, applications should be filed as early as possible.

A custodian regularly employed by the district shall open and close the building and have authority to act for the best interest of the district. The organization will be billed for custodial services that are above the normal work load and when the building is used at a time when the custodian is not normally on duty (such as weekends). If police service is required by the district for some activities (e.g., traffic control), the organization using the facilities will be billed for this service.

All fund raising organizations are reminded that the Hyde Park Central School District has a pouring rights contract with Pepsi Cola of the Hudson Valley and that only beverages purchased through them are to be sold on school grounds.
