Hyde Park Central School District

The Board of Education directs the Superintendent to develop and implement a systematic plan for the continuing evaluation of the progress of the goals of the educational program.

The purposes of evaluation of instruction are to:

  1. indicate instructional strengths and weaknesses;
  2. provide information needed for advance planning;
  3. provide data for public information;
  4. show the relationship between achievement and the school system's stated goals;
  5. check on the suitability of the instructional program in terms of community requirements;
  6. provide teachers with objective information on the academic strengths and weaknesses of each student;
  7. provide an overview of the educational effectiveness of the district in comparison with other district's across the nation; and
  8. evaluate government funded remedial programs in reading and mathematics.

The Superintendent shall maintain a calendar of student activities and shall make periodic evaluation reports available to the Board during the school year. The Board will annually make available to the public the progress of the student body towards its goals. Parents shall be encouraged to review the results of their child's tests.

The Superintendent shall annually recommend improvement in the program based upon the evaluation. The Board may from time to time employ consultants to assist in the evaluation process.
