The Board of Education acknowledges that the solicitation of funds from students must be limited since compulsory attendance laws make the students captive donors, and since such solicitation may disrupt the program of the schools.
Fund raising shall include the solicitation and collection of money by students for any purpose and shall include the collections of money in exchange for tickets, papers, or any other goods or services. Raffles and other games of chance will not be permitted.
Fund raising by approved school organizations for approved objectives may be permitted in schools by students in grades seven through twelve only. Collections of money by approved school organizations on or off school grounds may be permitted by the Building Principal who shall limit the kind and amount of advertising for solicitations within the school community and off school grounds.
Under no circumstances will prizes be awarded to individual elementary students as a result of fund raising by an approved school organization.
This policy does not prohibit students from participating in fund raising drives for non-school organizations which are off school property and not conducted in the name of the school. At no time, however, will elementary students take part in door-to-door solicitation.
