No Name Calling Week
No Name Calling Week will be celebrated here at Haviland this week, January 30th through February 3rd. No Name Calling Week was inspired by the young adult novel, "The Misfits" by author James Howe. Haviland will celebrate No Name Calling Week with morning announcements, contracts for no name calling and classroom presentations for 6th grade students by 8th grade students. There will be signs hung around the school relating to the morning announcements which were created by students.

Teens for Jeans
1 in 3 homeless people in the US is under the age of 18. Do your part to help...donate a pair of gently worn jeans.
Student Government will be collecting gently worn jeans to donate to the Teens for Jeans drive. They can be any size, any brand. For each pair of jeans donated, you will receive a coupon for Aeropostale. All donations need to be in by February 10th. Over 100 pairs of jeans have already been collected! Collection boxes will be in room 219 and 216. If you have any questions please see Miss Matulich (C219) or Miss Eastman (C216).

Operation Valentine's Day
The Haviland Student Government is sponsoring Operation Valentine's Day. Did you know there are over 300,000 troops stationed in foreign countries, with over 105,000 stationed in Afghanistan? Let's show them we care by bringing in items that can be sent to them. A list of items we are collecting to make packages for Valentine's Day is available in the main office. The collection boxes are in the Main Office and rooms C216, C219 and C119. Thanks for your support!
Harlem Wizards
Come see the Harlem Wizards vs. the Bad Apples at FDR on February 28th at 7:00pm. See Bad Apples for discount tickets. The Bad Apples are members of HPCSD staff. Members include Mr. Phillips, Mr. Pollard, Miss Roeder and Mrs. Terralavoro! Who are the Harlem Wizards? Find out here.
