Hyde Park Elementary enjoyed a healty lesson today in an outdoor
assembly featuring bike riders and the "Eat Well Play Hard" message.
The Eat Well Play Hard (EWPH) Program was developed to help prevent childhood
obesity and reduce long-term risks for chronic disease by encouraging
healthy eating and increased physical activity beginning at age two.
Physical Education teacher Sue Hawkins coordinated the activity along
with support from HPCSD Athletic Director Amy McArdle and Principal Ms.

The New York State Department of Health's five-day, five county 2006 Activ8Kids!
Promotional Bike Ride and School Recognition Tour involves bicyclists serving
as Activ8Kids! ambassadors who will visit five schools from Long Island to Albany
on their 270 plus mile tour across New York this week to promote healthy lifestyles
among children. The following schools are part of the tour to promote the State's
Activ8Kids! campaign: September 25: Fifth Avenue School, Bay Shore Long Island,
September 26: Harriet Tubman Learning Center, NYC, September 27: West Haverstraw
Elementary, West Haverstraw, September 28: Hyde Park Elementary, Hyde Park,
