Read Across America Kick-Off
“You’re never too old, too wacky, too wild, to pick up a book and read to a child.”
Happy 103rd Birthday, Dr. Suess! March 2, 2007.

It's that time of year again! Time for our annual Read Across America Pep Rally. On Friday, March 2nd we held this kick-off to the month-long reading program. Mrs. Benson first introduced the Band and cheering squad, which led the crowd with the chant "Read Some Books". On Friday, March 16 students will particiapte in the "Sit and Read" day. The next Friday, on the 23rd, is Beach Day. We will also celebrate "Cat in the Hat Day" on Friday, March 30. And talk about perfect timing . . . March 19 through the 23rd is the Book Fair!

It’s time to “Read Some Books”

What better way to celebrate Dr. Seuss's birthday than reading to a child?

WHY CELEBRATE DR. SEUSS?

Dr. Seuss epitomizes a love of children and learning. Also, his use of rhyme makes his books an effective tool for teaching young children the basic skills they need to be successful. When we celebrate Dr. Seuss and reading, we send a clear message to America's children that reading is fun and important.
