Chess Club

Chess club meets every Friday morning before school thanks to parents who donate their time and efforts!

MUSIC PROGRAMS

Netherwood has its own Band, led by Kristen Vinson, Chorus led by the music teacher, Amy Littler, and Orchestra led by Edith Stratton.

STUDENT COUNCIL 2006/2007 FINISHED THEIR WONDERFUL PROJECT CREATING NEW BANNERS FOR THE LIBRARY!

The primary goal of the Student Council is to work towards the betterment and improvement of Netherwood School as a whole, as a community. The Student Council consists of one representative from each 3rd, 4th and 5th Grade classroom. These students serve as role models and have the following characteristics:

  • take responsibilities seriously
  • be able to follow rules
  • be respectful
  • be able to listen to other people's opinions
  • be a hard worker
  • be able to work cooperatively with their class and with a group
  • be able to report to a K-2 class what Student Council is discussing and obtain feedback from them

Interested students complete applications for yearly appointments to Student Council.

Student Council 2006/2007

Currently, the Student Council is working on creating new felt banners for the library program.

Resource Room

The Resource Room is for people that need a little bit more help than most people.

Occupational Therapy

Occupational Therapy is for people that have learning disabilities and physical disabilities.

Reading Room

Netherwood's Reading Room is where students go to read with teachers.

Banana Splits

Banana Splits is a school based program for any child whose family has changed through separation, divorce or death. It is an ongoing peer support group that meets every other week. At the end of the school year, the students have a 'Banana Splits' party.

The Extended Day Program

The Extended Day program is a District-wide program for students that are nominated by their teachers. It is a program designed to provide special instruction for advanced learners (IMAGE) and struggling learners (SOAR).

Students meet twice a week after school for a semester to work on in a variety of subject areas. Sessions are held at all of the district elementary schools and the middle school.
