School bus driving to Ralph R. Smith Elementary School

The Playground Coin Challenge

The Playground Committee is offering a challenge to our school to raise money for a new playground. The challenge is to fill buckets located in the main office with coins. The grade level that fills the most buckets will win a prize. Our fundraiser challenge will end on January 31st with an all school assembly at 3:00pm. At the assembly, we will announce the final results, announce grade level winners, and the total amount raised.

The buckets of change will be offered to any class that would like to be involved in related Math activities to sort, count, weigh, graph or use the coins for any other creative lesson. Then the classes will have the opportunity to present what they did at the assembly.

Prizes will include...
1st place - pizza party and certificate for each student in the grade level
2nd place - movie party and certificate for each student in the grade level
3rd place - ice cream and certificate for each student in the grade level
4th place - ice cream and certificate for each student in the grade level

If you don't know how much change to donate, here are a few creative ideas to get you started...

The number of days in January...plus...
The number of people living in your house...plus...
The number of letters in the alphabet...plus...
The last 2 digits of your phone number...plus...
Your age
(You don't have to do them all...just do a few...have fun with it!)

Thanks for all of your support!
