Dear Parents:
As a part of our building safety plan, we have drills for various situations. Please read the following definitions to understand how some of these procedures work. Of course we hope we never have a situation that would call for a lock out or a lock down.
Lock Out===A school building locking all exterior doors, including the front/main doors of the facility. At the principals discretion, students/teachers can move within the building but not to go outside of the building and students may be released by the principal through the front door to a parent/guardian. Police Department and the Superintendent will be informed of the lock out and decide whether their presence is required.
Lock Down===A school building locking all exterior doors, locking all students (with their respective teacher) in their classrooms, shutting off classroom lights, closing/locking windows and blinds in classrooms, directing students into a corner of the room away from the classroom door and directing students to be quiet. There will be no student/teachers/
staff in the hallways. There will be no release of students to parents/guardians. The Police Department and the Superintendent will be
informed of the lock down and decide on the appropriate action of intervention.
All pertinent information will be posted on the district website and may also be accessed by calling (845) 483-3613.
