The teaching of English Language Arts is the cornerstone of any educational program, and teachers in Hyde Park CSD have embarked on a multi-year initiative to renew and strengthen literacy instruction. In addition to elementary projects emphasizing the writer’s workshop model, teachers K-12 collaborated in the summer of 2005 to develop a Writing Continuum. At the secondary level, a Writing Center (link) will, beginning in 2005/2006, meet the needs of students who seek support with their writing.
Seniors who meet entrance criteria may opt to take Advanced Placement British Literature. All seniors complete a Senior Research Project as a requirement of graduation.
