Amy obtained a Bachelor of Science in Education (Physical Education with a
concentration in elementary education) from SUNY Cortland. Upon graduating,
she began her career at the Highland Central School District teaching and
coaching at both the middle school and high school. She then was employed by
Wallkill Central School District where she spent seven years teaching middle
school physical education. While at Wallkill, she pursued a Master of Sport
Science in Sports Management at the United States Sports Academy; she then received
her School District Administrators Certificate from Massachusetts College of Liberal Arts.
Amy has coached at all levels from youth to Division I college, and she possess an extensive background in adventure education.
Currently at Hyde Park, Amy's responsible for overseeing fifty five interscholastic sport teams, as well as the K-12 physical education and health programs. She is excited by the challenge of serving as the Director of Physical Education, Health and Athletics and feels that physical activity is a superb vehicle to teach young people about values, ethics, and sportsmanship.

Cora Stempel

Cora Stempel joined the district as Assistant Superintendent in September 2004. Cora has been in education for 24 years, 14 as an administrator. As a special education teacher Cora worked in public and private schools in Maine, New Hampshire and New York State. While in Maine, Cora has the distinct honor of beginning and then leading the first employer-sponsored daycare program in the state.
Cora began her administrative work at Ramapo for Children, in Rhinebeck, NY. After receiving her Masters Degree in Education Administration from the College of St. Rose she joined the Kingston City Schools as Special Education Coordinator. Most recently Cora served as the Special Education Training and Resource Center (SETRC) Coordinator at Ulster BOCES and then as Supervisor of Professional Development.
Assistant Superintendent of Business
Wayne Kurlander

Wayne Kurlander joined our administrative team at Hyde Park in February of 2006 as the Assistant Superintendent for Business. Wayne comes to us from Orange County where he was an Administrator with the Monroe-Woodbury Central School District. He spent the beginning of his career as a Teacher with the Minisink Valley Central School District.
Wayne’s educational background includes a CAS in Business Administration from the State University at New Paltz, A Masters degree in computer technology from the New York Institute of Technology and Bachelors in Business Administration and Education from the State University at Oneonta.
He is excited to continue with previous efforts toward improvement in the Hyde Park Central School District.

Bill Frandino

Bill Frandino began his service as the Director of Mathematics and Science for the Hyde Park Central School District in August 2005. Bill is responsible for developing and implementing curricula, supporting programs and initiatives, and assisting all teachers and students in the quest for excellence and equity in the areas of Mathematics and Science.
Bill comes to Hyde Park Central School District with nine years of experience in teaching mathematics and science, five sessions as a summer school mathematics instructor, two summer sessions as a summer school principal, and a solid background in curriculum development. Bill holds a Bachelor’s of Science in Physics, a Master’s of Science in Teaching Secondary Science, and a Certificate of Advanced Study in Education Administration, all from the State University of New York in Plattsburgh.

Marisa Merlino

Marisa Merlino received her BA degree from SUNY Albany and her MS degree in School Counseling from Russell Sage College in Troy, NY. She earned her Certificate in Advanced Study in Educational Administration from SUNY New Paltz.
Prior to coming to Hyde Park, Marisa spent three years as an Assistant Principal and four years as a School Counselor in the Wappingers Central School District.
Coordinator of Computer Technology and Training
Forrest Addor

Forrest Addor joined the district as the Coordinator of Computer Technology and Training in November 2005. He is responsible for maintaining the technology and data needs of the district and ensures that Hyde Park Central School District provides the best technology resources to the students and staff.
Forrest brings with him over seven years experience working as a technology coordinator for a school district in Ulster County. He has his B.A. from the State University at Albany his M.A. in Instructional Technology.

Debbie Kirkhus

Debbie Kirkhus joined the district as Haviland Middle School’s Assistant Principal in July 2006.
Debbie received her undergraduate degree in Economics from Cornell University, then worked in the
investment industry. After this she decided to follow her desire to teach so she went on for her masters degree in Mathematics Education from SUNY Albany. She worked as a High School Math Teacher at Arlington High School while completing her degree in Educational Administration. Debbie has worked on many administrative projects at Arlington including working as the site coordinator for scoring of the NYS Grades 3-8 Math and ELA assessments.
