5/24/06 Awarding Winning News!

To All in the Hyde Park Community,

Congratulations to Aviva Kafka, principal, and all at Violet Avenue Elementary School! The State Education Department (SED) has notified us on 5/21 that Violet Avenue Elementary school has been selected and designated as a" high achieving/GAP CLOSING elementary school/district!" This is an incredible achievement, and is due to many factors over the last ½ dozen years. Most notable among them are the leadership of Aviva Kafka, principal, and a terrific and committed staff. Parents are to be congratulated for their support and involvement as well. It is also important to note that programs and best practices have been put in place that match the academic needs of its students. Under Ms. Kafka's leadership with support from the district administration and board of education, Violet Avenue has undergone a transformation! May the great work continue!
