Each building handles registration for all regular student admissions. For children with special needs, registration is done at the District Office at 11 Boice Rd. (Off Rt 9, across from Regina Coeli Church). Children who will reach the age of five years on or before December 1 are eligible for kindergarten admission. Children transferring from other districts will be placed in the grade in accordance with their prior school records and the judgment of the principal of their new school. Children will be admitted to the school building assigned to the primary residence of the custodial parent.
Kindergarten registration is held in the spring in each of the elementary school buildings. Resident children who will be five years old on or before December 1 will be eligible to attend kindergarten. Several daytime and one evening registration will be held in each building.
During registration, each family is asked to make an appointment for a kindergarten screening, usually conducted in late May or early June. Kindergarten Orientation is held over the summer in each building and includes a bus ride and an opportunity to meet the teacher.
2. PROOF OF RESIDENCE-
Under certain circumstances, students who are in the process of moving into the district may enter at the beginning of the school year, and students who are moving out of the district may complete the current school year. Refer to BOE Policy 5152 for more details.
(YOUR CHILD WILL NOT BE ALLOWED TO ATTEND SCHOOL WITHOUT PROOF OF AGE AND PROOF OF RESIDENCY.)
3. IMMUNIZATION HEALTH RECORD- signed or stamped by the physician
Each child entering school must bring proof of immunization against polio, measles, rubella, diphtheria, and mumps. The only exceptions to this law are a physician's statement that immunization may be detrimental to the child's health or unless the parents testify in writing that they are members of a recognized religious group whose teaching prohibit immunization.
4. PROOF OF PARENTAL CUSTODY-
During registration, parents are asked to fill out emergency contact forms. Please have ready the name, address, and phone number of another adult outside your home who can be contacted in case of emergency.2. TRANSPORTATION
If your child will need transportation to a day care facility, you will need to fill out a transportation form. The district will transport children to daycare within the attendance zone of the building they attend. For state-approved daycare providers, the district will transport to any location within the district. Click here for more information. Daycare Transportation.3. FREE/REDUCED LUNCH
The federal government sponsors a free and reduced lunch program in all American schools. Since enrollment in this program also determines the amount of state and federal funding that our district will receive, we strongly encourage families to apply. During the 2005-2006 school year, the district will be putting in a new computerized system for processing all lunches. All families will have the opportunity to pre-pay for lunches and snacks, and all children will type in a PIN number when purchasing lunch. This makes the free and reduced lunch program completely confidential. Click here for more information. Free/Reduced Lunch Application.
